About Us/Information

Service club through The Bishop's School (San Diego, CA)

Students interested in tutoring will be trained and qualified to help instruct children through a school service club as well as a government approved non-profit.

Our mission

Our mission is to encourage young students to fully explore the Spanish language and culture through a supportive, comforting, and open learning space and to provide support for first generation/immigrant/all-scholarship students.

Our outreach

What is Nativity Prep?

"Nativity Prep Academy is a private-independent, all-scholarship Catholic middle school and college access program for young men and women from historically under-resourced communities who represent the first generation of their family to graduate from college. Nativity Prep students are 5x more likely to graduate from college than other historically underserved students."  https://nativityprep.org/

Volunteering at Nativity Prep School in El Cajon

Spanish Support and Discovery  provides free tutoring to students who attend Nativity Prep Middle School both during the summer and the school year. We help in subjects like Math and English and help students complete their homework, study for tests, and learn new concepts

About Spanish Support and Discovery, Inc.

About Francesca (Founder/President)

Hi, my name is Francesca Vano. I am the oldest of three siblings and am a current sophomore in high school. I have lived in California my whole life, but my dad is originally from Spain and grew up in Guatemala. I have many family members in Valencia, Spain. My family owns a charming hotel there, and always reassures me that Valencia is my home away from home. Growing up, my dad made it a priority to go visit my family and to take advantage of being bicultural. Overall, my interest in Spanish literature originates from my personal background fusing together with my academic passions.

About Eleanor (Vice-President)

Hi! I’m Eleanor Meyer, and I’m a sophomore. I started learning languages when I was in kindergarten, and I haven’t stopped since. I’m fluent in both French and English, and this is my fifth year learning Spanish. I’m inspired everyday to keep learning because of my growing ability to communicate with more people in their native language, and learn about global perspectives. Learning languages has become a really important part of my life, and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to share my passion with others through tutoring and cultural discussions.
